Bane Ignacio-Singian
ABOUT ME
Bane Ignacio-Singian (he/they) is a Filipino-American and
transgender filmmaker currently based in Seattle, WA.
As a child, my father and grandmother always seemed to be glued to the TV — my father was drawn to late-night airings of Lost, and my grandmother was drawn to the daily soap operas aired by TFC (The Filipino Channel). We used to live by a Blockbuster, and later on, they were heavy subscribers to Redbox and Netflix’s mail-in program and exposed me to various films. As an adult, my work is based on themes of childhood and realization paired with a lens of cultural and/or gender identity. Found family is a big emphasis in my work which is something that very much encapsulates the nature of AWiP LLC, a production company that my friends and I own.
His previous work has been selected for the All Asian Independent Film Festival in 2021 and has premiered in France with its sister festival, the European Independent Film Festival.
